An activity inbox, and a toolbar you can dock

Mentions, replies and new threads now collect in an activity inbox on the toolbar, with a bubble when something arrives. The toolbar can dock to the side of the page, pins show what a thread is about when you hover them, and a deleted thread can be brought back.

Added

  • An activity inbox on the toolbar — Everything that concerns you — mentions, replies on your threads, new threads in your projects — lands in one inbox, and a bubble on the toolbar tells you when something new arrives. Filter it by kind; opening an item takes you to the thread with that comment highlighted.
  • Choose what each project notifies you about — Notification preferences are now per project, so a busy project doesn't drown out a quiet one.
  • Dock the toolbar to the side of the page — Drag it near the left or right edge and it docks there and turns vertical, out of the way of the page you're reviewing. A short pull undocks it again.
  • Undo a deleted thread — Deleting a thread gives you a moment to take it back before it's gone.

Improved

  • Hover a pin to see what it's about — Pins open into a small preview of the thread and outline the part of the page it's on, so you can tell threads apart without opening each one.
  • Comment mode shows exactly what you're commenting on — The element under your pointer is highlighted and named in plain words — “Checkout button”, not a CSS selector — and your new pin turns into the saved one when you send.
  • The threads panel keeps up — New threads slide in as they arrive, the unread count sits on the toolbar, rows show who replied, resolved threads leave Unread, and the panel comes back as you left it after a refresh.
  • Recordings leave our database sooner — Temporary copies of session recordings are now kept for an hour instead of seven days.

Fixed

  • A thread opened from elsewhere is easy to find — Its pin and card give a short shake so your eye lands on it, and if the part of the page it's on can't be found, Quality says so instead of doing nothing.
  • Popovers follow the toolbar while you move it
  • Invite pages show the project's logo
  • “6 days ago” no longer reads as 7 — Relative times round down now, so they never jump ahead of the truth.

Replays open faster

A quieter week, spent mostly on what's coming next. Session replays now load in one go and are cached, so they open faster — especially the second time.

Improved

  • Replays load in one request — A replay used to fetch its recording in a second step after the thread loaded. It now arrives with the playback itself and is cached, so opening the same replay again is close to instant.

Record your screen into a comment

You can now record your screen and attach the clip to a comment, and it plays with the console and network alongside, like a session replay. Join requests got a place of their own, and billing plans arrived in the dashboard.

Added

  • Screen recordings as comment attachments — Start a recording from the toolbar, stop when you're done, and the clip attaches to your comment. It opens at the start, paused, in the full playback view — with the thread's comments, console and network beside it.
  • Play recordings from the threads panel
  • Join requests where you'll see them — When someone asks to join a project, the request shows up on the page and in the invite panel, and whoever approves it picks which seat they get.
  • Billing plans in the dashboard — See the plans and manage your subscription from settings.

Improved

  • Smaller recordings — Recordings are compressed before they upload, so they finish sooner on a slow connection.
  • Create a project without leaving the page — New projects can be created straight from the project switcher.
  • Mentions read as names — A mention in a comment shows the person's name, without the leading @.

Fixed

  • Deleting a project stops the extension straight away — The toolbar used to linger on the page until you reloaded.
  • Pins from other pages stay quiet — A thread left on another page of your site no longer warns that it can't find its spot.
  • The extension no longer upsets some sites' styles
  • Images and videos open full screen

Go to the comment, from anywhere

Replays and thread rows gained a Go to comment that opens the live page at the spot the comment was left, and threads now open at the exact URL they were created on. Sign-in and the extension install page were rebuilt too.

Added

  • Go to comment — From a shared replay or a thread row in the dashboard, one click opens the live page and takes you to where the comment was left.

Improved

  • Threads open where they were left — Opening a thread takes you to the exact URL it was created on, so you land on the same page state the comment was left on.
  • A new sign-in and install flow — Sign-in, the extension install page and Get started were rebuilt, and Skip on the install step now takes you back instead of leaving you stranded.
  • Mention suggestions sit where you're typing

Fixed

  • Comment text can be selected again
  • Commenting from a shared replay matches the extension

Your pins are there when the page reloads

Comment pins used to go missing after a reload until you clicked something to shake them loose. They now find their place on their own, and appear as you scroll. Projects can also be renamed from the sidebar, and selecting text on the page works properly again.

Added

  • Rename a project from the sidebar — The new name shows up everywhere at once — including in the extension toolbar on any page you have open, without a reload.

Improved

  • The people on a project are called Members — The project people surface now uses the same word as the rest of the app.

Fixed

  • Comment pins come back on their own after a reload — Reloading a page you were reviewing left most pins missing until you clicked around — opening the comments panel, clicking a thread — and a batch of them appeared at once. Pins were being looked for a single time, too early, while the site was still drawing itself; anything not ready at that moment was hidden and never checked again. They now keep looking for a couple of seconds after load, so they settle into place by themselves.
  • Pins further down the page appear as you scroll — A pin on a section below the fold stayed hidden no matter how far you scrolled to it, because scrolling was not treated as a reason to look again. It is now.
  • No more “this comment isn't on this page” for a comment that is — Clicking a thread whose part of the page was still loading could tell you it was not here at all. It now waits until it has actually finished looking before saying that.
  • Selecting text on the page works with the toolbar open — Dragging to select a sentence was being cancelled by the layer that catches clicks for the toolbar. The same fix applies inside the replay drawer, where dragging over text moved the drawer instead of selecting.

A changelog, and a smoother first install

You are reading the first of these. Installing the extension no longer loses your place halfway through, workspace members can invite people to a project without being made an admin first, and a handful of smaller things — copying a thread link, how a shared thread loads, the emoji picker — got tidied.

Added

  • A changelog you can read — Every week's changes now live at /changelog — written for the people using Quality, rather than generated from commit messages.

Improved

  • Installing the extension picks up where you left off — Launching a project without the extension used to end at the Chrome store. Now the page waits for the install to finish and carries straight on into the project — and if it cannot tell whether the install worked, it offers to launch manually rather than leaving you guessing.
  • Workspace members can invite people to a project — Inviting someone used to require being an admin on that specific project. Any member of the workspace can now do it.
  • Get started knows when you already have the extension — The install card used to walk you through installing it again. It now says the extension is already installed instead.
  • Copy link is a button, not a menu item — It sits beside resolve in the replay header, in the extension and in both dashboard replay views. One click instead of two, and the overflow menu now only appears when there is something left in it.
  • A shared thread loads one way — The public thread page used to show a skeleton mock-up while it fetched the thread, then swap to a spinner while it fetched the recording. On a slow connection you watched one become the other. It is the same loading screen throughout now.
  • One open thread at a time — Opening a pin closes the pin you had open before, instead of leaving both popovers on the page.

Fixed

  • The toolbar keeps its width when it reloads near the right edge — A toolbar parked on the right came back narrow after a reload, because its restored centre was being applied as a left edge.
  • A double click no longer sends the same emoji twice
  • “Connected” sits beside the integration name — It was floating in its own row above the card while “Soon” sat next to the name — two placements for the same kind of label.

Share a thread with anyone

A thread link now works for people outside your project. They read the thread, watch the session replay, and ask their way in — without you provisioning an account first. Jira and Linear also came out of testing this week.

Added

  • Public thread links — Send a thread's link to anyone. They get the comment, the screenshot and the full session replay — network, console and actions included — on a page of its own.
  • Join as a guest, or request access — A reader on a share link can join the project as a guest straight away, or request access. Workspace admins approve or reject from the dashboard, and both sides get an email.
  • Sign in without losing the thread — The auth popup can now defer the profile step, so a reader signs in and replies in place instead of being bounced through onboarding and back.
  • Connect Linear and Jira in production — Both integrations are enabled for everyone. Connect once and threads route to the right project, keep their status in sync, and link back to the exact spot on the page.
  • Drafts that survive navigation — The comment composer keeps an unsent draft across every surface it appears on. Close the panel, move pages, come back — the half-written comment is still there.
  • A toolbar that folds away — The toolbar collapses into a centred logo pill, remembers the position you dragged it to, and carries an unread dot on the threads control when there is something new to read.
  • Paste and drop attachments into a comment — Screenshots from the clipboard and files dragged onto the composer attach directly — no file picker.
  • Updates arrive as a banner — The extension's update prompt was rebuilt as a banner behind the toolbar, so a new version never blocks what you were doing.

Improved

  • Recording starts the moment you pick it — The toolbar's video control was restyled and now begins recording on select, instead of asking for a second confirming click.
  • Dismiss playback with a flick — The replay drawer now closes on a downward drag, so you can get back to the page without aiming for a close button.
  • A boot screen for the dashboard — The signed-in app shows a proper loading state and hands off to the dashboard once it is ready, rather than rendering an empty frame that settles as details arrive.
  • Deleting a comment asks in a dialog — The inline confirmation was replaced with a proper dialog, so a misplaced click cannot remove a comment.
  • Sessions for deleted projects clean themselves up — If a project is deleted while you have it open, the extension discards the session rather than failing every request against it.

Fixed

  • The mention popover closes on an outside click and can be driven from the keyboard
  • Long console messages wrap instead of scrolling sideways
  • Inspector tooltips no longer render behind the replay drawer
  • “Open project” appears only for project members, and opens in a new tab
  • A public thread now says why its playback could not load
  • The composer no longer crashes the panel when it takes focus
  • Popovers on the page you are reviewing stay open when the toolbar takes focus
  • A project logo that fails to load falls back instead of sticking

Quality, open to your AI tools

The biggest week so far. Quality picked up an MCP endpoint so coding agents can read threads, playbacks and console logs directly; guests became a real role; and you can now be signed into more than one account at a time.

Added

  • An MCP endpoint for your AI tools — Point Claude, Cursor or any MCP client at your workspace and it can read a thread, its recording summary, its network requests and its console logs — authenticated, permission-checked and privacy-bounded. Set it up from MCP clients in settings.
  • Guests — Invite someone to a single project without giving them the workspace. Guests see only what they were invited to, and member-only navigation stays hidden from them.
  • More than one account at once — Sign in to several accounts and switch between them from the sidebar, without logging out and back in.
  • Thread activity — Every thread now carries a feed of what happened to it — status changes, issues raised, who did what — visible in the web tray, the extension and playback.
  • Screen recording from the toolbar — Record the screen straight from the toolbar and attach it to a thread.
  • A guided Slack invite — A step-by-step guide walks you through inviting Quality into a Slack channel, so the connection works the first time.
  • Raise several tracker issues from one thread — A thread can now produce more than one Jira or Linear issue, and shows which ones were raised from it and by whom.
  • Told when an anchor cannot be found — If a comment's element has changed too much to re-find, you get a notification instead of a silently misplaced pin.

Improved

  • Connections settings, redesigned — Integrations are now a card grid with a detail panel, showing live provider lists and the project each connection links to.
  • Light mode by default — The app and the extension now open in light mode, with theme-aware illustrations and logos throughout.
  • The toolbar hides and returns from the bar itself — Hide the toolbar without hunting through a menu — and the comments hide with it.
  • Threads panel remembers its layout — The panel keeps its size and the thread you had selected, and resolved threads sort to the bottom of the All tab.
  • Land where you left off — Switching workspace drops you on a project rather than an empty shell, and an unavailable project now explains itself on the whole screen.

Fixed

  • Toolbar menus size themselves without morphing between screens
  • The emoji picker can be dismissed and clicked again
  • Toasts stack correctly inside the extension's toolbar
  • Autofilled fields repaint properly, and the code input works on iOS
  • The segmented slider only moves on a real drag
  • Creating a workspace validates without touching the company-size field first

An inbox for everything aimed at you

Mentions got a home of their own with read state and bulk actions, comments got reactions, and onboarding was reworked so the extension step lands after your workspace is approved rather than before.

Added

  • A workspace mention inbox — Everything you were mentioned in, in one place — with read state, unread indicators, unresolved-only filtering, keyboard navigation and bulk mark-as-read.
  • Comment reactions — React to a comment instead of replying “agreed”.
  • Video attachments — Attach video to a comment, and open any attachment in a full lightbox.
  • Playback speed — A speed menu on the replay player, with rrweb now loading only when you actually open a recording.
  • AI summaries in playback — The thread summary is available inside playback on both the web app and the extension.
  • Toolbar connection panels for Slack, Linear and Jira — Connect an issue tracker without leaving the page you are reviewing.

Improved

  • Onboarding, reworked — A dedicated profile step, no stepper where it did not belong, and the extension step moved to after workspace approval — so you are not sent to install something you cannot use yet.
  • Settings, rebuilt — A new settings sidebar with shared page shells, reworked invite screens, a trimmed signup, and clearer workspace member management and admin permissions.
  • Return to your last project — Signing back in lands you on the project you last had open.
  • One drag resizes the whole thread panel — The panel and its detail popup now move together instead of fighting each other.

Fixed

  • Cmd+Enter submits from the pin comment composer
  • You are signed out properly when a session cannot be refreshed
  • The thread tray dismisses on a tap outside it
  • The toolbar and recorder no longer mount twice on the same page
  • Project creation failures are reported instead of failing silently
  • Tooltips stopped sliding in on first display

Comments that stay where you put them

Work on the anchoring engine — the part that re-finds a commented element after the page changes underneath it — plus a thread panel you can drag and resize, and an extension that keeps working when the network drops.

Added

  • Durable annotation anchoring — Comments are anchored with a richer fingerprint of the element they were left on, so they survive a redeploy that shifts the DOM instead of being orphaned.
  • Offline mode — The extension keeps working when the connection drops, and tells you plainly that it has.
  • A draggable, resizable thread panel — Move the thread detail panel out of the way of whatever you are reviewing, and size it to fit.
  • Thread status actions in the project list — Resolve or reopen a thread from the list without opening it first.
  • Invite teammates from the toolbar — A rebuilt invite flow inside the extension, with per-email validation so one typo does not fail the whole invite.

Improved

  • Cleaner project URLs — Project routes moved to canonical paths, with the old links redirecting, so a shared URL keeps working.
  • “Link copied” actually says so — Copying a link anywhere in the product now confirms it with a toast.
  • Sharper playback controls — Reply parity in the Comments tab, resolve-on-playback, and tooltips that flip rather than run off the viewport.
  • Email notifications for thread activity — Thread notifications and project-access emails were reworked so they say something useful.

Fixed

  • Toolbar screenshots anchor at the centre of your selection
  • Switching projects resets the view instead of showing the previous one's data
  • Panel edge resize handles and reaction tooltips stopped competing for the same pixels
  • Stale extension contexts are handled on launch rather than erroring
